Pieces of Our Past, 4'x8', Stained Glass, 2016

"Pieces of Our Past" is a 4-foot by 8-foot stained glass mosaic installed in the Cobb Astro Park of Barnstable High School in Hyannis, MA. This mosaic was designed as a timeline depicting influential figures and events throughout human history. From its initial design phase up to its installation and unveiling, "Pieces of Our Past" took over three years to complete. Every part of the mosaic, including the quotes and portraits, are made out of stained glass. This mosaic was unveiled at Barnstable High School on May 26, 2016.

Contributions of Ancient Greece, 24"x24", Vitreous Tile, 2016

I recently worked with a small group of 7th grade students from Barnstable Intermediate School on a class project on Ancient Greece. We created a mosaic that incorporated some of the contributions of Ancient Greece on modern life such as democracy, the Olympics, architecture, drama, and mythology. Each student worked on a section of the mosaic and we then pieced it together and filled in around each section. (Ok, I did the scale!) We looked at pictures of Ancient Greek mosaics and learned what each image in our mosaic symbolized. They did a great job and really enjoyed the process.

The original design and template the students used to create their mosaic. This design was cut up into sections, laminated, and the students then created their sections.
