  • Have a business? Install an inviting and memorable piece of art into your lobby, office, bar or turn your business logo into glass!

  • Designing a public space? Incorporate a mosaic that tells the story of your neighborhood or space and have members of your community contribute to the finished product!

  • Updating your garden or exterior space? Include a mosaic!

  • Looking for a gift? Mosaics can be a fantastic wedding, housewarming, birthday or anytime gift!

  • Have a favorite photo of a family member? Commission a mosaic to turn your photo into a portrait you can keep forever!

Things to Consider…

There are many factors to consider when commissioning your mosaic. Together we will discuss size, material, color, design intricacy, interior/exterior, budget, time frame of your project. Commissions and installations can be customized to fit any budget!

Materials…

Stained glass is most commonly used in Michael’s commissioned pieces because of the variation in color and durability of the material. However, there are many materials such as tile, mirror, broken china, smalti, and found objects that can be incorporated to make your mosaic unique and personalized!

Commission Process…

I love working with clients during every step of the process from our first design consultation choosing colors and materials together right up to installation day, making your ideas become reality! Here is an example of what your commission process will look like…

  • Commission Inquiry: If you are interested in commissioning a mosaic for your commercial or residential space, complete the form in the Contact tab above or reach out to me at mjfmosaics@comcast.net

  • Design Consultation: We meet either at your site or my studio and discuss all of your ideas and your options. You have the opportunity to look at and feel different materials that could be incorporated into your project. This is your opportunity to tell me all of your ideas!

  • Preliminary Design/Approval: After our initial design consultation, I will get right to work designing your project based on our conversation. Once you approve of the design, you receive your contract.

  • Contract/Deposit: The contract protects both the client and the artist and “locks in” your project on my project queue. At this point we discuss installation and project completion dates. Once the contract has been signed, a deposit is collected to reserve your space on the project queue and to cover initial costs related to your project or installation.

  • Creation: The completion date of your project depends on the size and intricacy of your project as well as how many projects I am working on at that time. If requested, I can send you process pictures for you to check in on and approve. All projects are completed in my studio and are either shipped or delivered to you or installed in your home or commercial space.

  • Installation/Delivery/Remainder of Payment Due: Once the final project has been received or installed, remainder of payment is due. Depending on the size of the project, installation can take a number of days. At minimum, two days is required for installation.

I look forward to working with you and hearing your ideas for your next commission or installation. The options are endless! To see past commissioned projects and Testimonials from former clients, explore the the Commissions Portfolio and Testimonials tabs above.
