My name is Michael J. Ferreira. I am an educator, an artist and a born-and-raised Cape Codder. I love the beach (for limited amounts of time until I get bored) and the smell of the ocean. I enjoy teaching people new things and learning new things from others. I enjoy spending time walking through museums and galleries, being inspired by artwork; seeing art that is created in a way that I have never seen before or materials being used in unexpected ways. I am fascinated by people and their interactions with one another as well as their environments. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy making people laugh and I absolutely love a good party.

I served as President of the New England Mosaic Society from 2017-2020 and am a member of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Society of American Mosaic Artists as well as many other art organizations throughout New England.

I have enjoyed art for as long as I can remember but I struggled to find a medium I felt that I could work with. I stumbled upon mosaics in college and have been creating and growing ever since. I feel that I have art “in my bones” as I have many family members who have been active in the arts for generations. I love working on custom projects for clients as well as creating my own work to share with the world. I love to create using bright and bold colors and use an array of materials in my work.

Every one of my mosaics is different and each piece is cut by hand. I love the process of creating and I love sharing my work with you. To learn more about my artwork and my artistic journey, follow me, share me, like me, and visit me here on my website and on social media.

“Happiness is a mosaic, composed of a thousand little stones, which separately and of themselves have little value, but which united with art, form a graceful design” -Delphine de Girardin
